About this map
The 2013 Environmental Innovation Map aims to represent the most creative and innovative initiatives addressing environmental challenges and opportunities. It serves as a reference for the business, nonprofit, and government communities as to who is a leader in implementing new environmental strategies.
The projects that appear on the map were chosen using a research process developed jointly by Business Civic Leadership Center and Green Plus (click here to learn more).
The 2013 Environmental Innovation Map focuses on:
- Initiatives that deviate from standard practices. In other words, initiatives that are already well-known and implemented widely in the business sector will not be showcased.
- Initiatives that fall outside the core competency of a business. The map will focus on businesses that reach outside their industry for ways to solve problems relating to the environment.
- Initiatives that exhibit a 'wow' factor. The map will showcase creative, novel approaches to long-standing, conventional environmental challenges.
